Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What is the security deposit?
A security deposit is taken as a guarantee against any breakages or damage incurred during your stay or excess cleaning required at the end. It should be paid at least two weeks in advance of your stay. After inspection it will be returned to you by post within two weeks of your departure. Breakages or damage should always be reported to the key holder and the property should be left in a clean and tidy condition.

2. What is a Mini Break?
A. Weekends and - mid week short breaks of up to 4 nights are offered at 75% of the weekly rate, subject to availability. Not applicable in High Season ( except as late availability).

3. What does "full linen" mean in property descriptions?
A. "Full linen" comprises bed linen, towels and kitchen linen. This is included in the weekly charge. Duvets are always supplied in covers, so if you wish to provide your own linen you should bring top and bottom sheets, pillowcases, towels and kitchen linen.

4. At what time should I arrive at my 4 Knots Yard and when should I leave?
A. The standard time of arrival at a holiday home is 3pm, leaving by 10am on the day of departure. This allows for cleaning of the property between holiday lets. It is assumed that you will arrive at 3pm if we are not informed otherwise. If your travel arrangements require you to arrive later than 3pm you should notify us by telephone (see Contact Us).

5. How do I make a booking?
A. You should first check that 4 Knots Yard is available on the date you require by contacting us or checking the Availability Calendar. We will then make a provisional booking for you, which we will hold for 7 days. To confirm the booking we require a a 33% deposit. If you are booking within 8 weeks of the start of your holiday, payment in full is required.

6. What if I need to cancel?
When you book your holiday a legal contract is made between you and us. If you cannot go on holiday and the accommodation cannot be re-let, you may forfeit any deposit you have paid and be liable to pay any outstanding balance of the cottage holiday rental.
